William Bithal Cagle 1927-2022

William Bithal Cagle (Dub) of Pocahontas. Peacefully transitioned from this life on January 07, 2022, at the ripe age of 94.

He was born on August 22, 1927, to the late martin Cagle (Fuzz) and Maudie West of Pocahontas, He is proceeded in death by his daughter, Diana Lynne Cagle of Arizona, Brother’s Darrell Cagle of Pocahontas, and JD Cagle of Maynard. He has one surviving brother JR Cagle of Pocahontas.

Dub was married to the late Carolyn Zitzelberger of Engelberg and is survived by his daughter Brenda Cagle of Arizona and his sons Alan Cagle of Texas and Wayne Cagle of Arizona. He has Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dub grew up working the sawmill and farming with his family. Later in life he operated his own sawmill. He was a sharpshooter in the ARMY, moved to Arizona to raise his family then returned to Pocahontas, the hometown he loved.

Dub was avid pool player and once played against The Legendary “Minnesota Fats”. He loved life, family, friends, a good joke, hunting, fishing, boating, archery, and a tasty cigar. He cut and donated lumber to build the Engelberg Hall. He built a cabin on Current River and enjoyed mechanic work. He was an outdoors man who could name every tree and plant in the wild. His favorite trees were the Mighty Oak and The Blessed Dogwood. He played the fiddle and guitar in his younger days, The fiddle being his favorite.

Dub was a compassionate person with a Big Heart and a Big Smile. He was very appreciative of everyone who helped him during the last years of his life including all his friends, who provided rides, above and beyond staff, nurses, VA Staff, Mary Green, Sandy Glasgow, and “Mo”. He was especially grateful to everyone who visited him and just spent time with him……. See you all in the next life.
