Wanda Lee Sanders was born on Wednesday, June 4, 1930, to Harrison and Lois Morris in Dalton, Arkansas. She passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas, at the age of 91.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Amos “Dick” Martin Sanders; parents, Harrison and Lois Morris; brothers, Freeman and Ray Morris; and sister, Mary Crockan.

Wanda is survived by a son, Don (Leona) Emery of St. Louis, and a daughter, Karen Jeanene (Lee) Schumacher of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Keith (Tracy)Emery, Lois Emery, Julie (Aaron) Zeitler, Jennifer Emery, and Nathan (Megan) Emery; eleven great grandchildren, Kellen and Duncan Emery, Alex, Sullivan and Renlie Zeitler, Emery, Josephine, and Fletcher Moore, and Kylie, Max, and Sadie Emery; and one brother, Perry Morris. Wanda was a good aunt and was always there for her nieces, Sherry Secrest and Terri Wantulok.

Wanda was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Fan. She was also an excellent cook and was known for both her Orange Cake and her Chicken Dressing. Her home was always open to anyone and you could always count on a good home cooked meal.

Wanda and Dick worked on their farm in Noland for many years. Wanda also worked at Cinch where she made many lifelong friends. She traveled with those friends to 49 states, but somehow Wisconsin escaped their travels.

Wanda loved her church family and was very active in the congregation. She was a kind soul and always extended a helpful hand to anyone in need. Wanda volunteered for many years with the Meals on Wheels program and was honored as the Volunteer of the Year for 1997 – 1998 at the Pocahontas BRAD Senior Citizens Center.

Wanda’s last years were spent at Randolph Home. Despite being bedridden from a terrible leg injury, her spirits always remained high. She never complained about her situation and her positive attitude was an inspiration to all. Wanda always looked forward to visits from her family and friends. Her mind remained sharp to the end and never forgot a birthday. Wanda read her newspaper every day and watched her favorite shows including The Price is Right, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Fox News. She also looked forward to Bingo where she won more than her fair share of games. And of course, she never missed a St Louis Cardinals baseball game.

Wanda’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers, carrying their Mamaw to her final resting place.

The family sincerely thanks the staff of Randolph County Nursing Home for her excellent care.

All services will be held in the chapel of Hope Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, January 21, 2022. Wanda’s visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with her funeral service immediately following, with Jerry Cochran officiating. Wanda will be laid to rest in Sutton Cemetery.
