VADA ANN SWANN

Vada Ann Swann, 87, of Pocahontas, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Randolph County Nursing

Home. Vada was born on July 2, 1937, to the late Charles Franklin and Lillie Sackett Franklin in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Vada was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pocahontas and was well known in the community for her cooking, having worked as a cook in many local restaurants. Her dishes like chicken-n-dumplings and delicious pies were loved and remembered by many, she was never seen without her apron on. She also was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Vada was a loving and devoted mom and granny. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillie Franklin; her beloved husband, Fate Swann; brothers, Hartford Franklin, John Franklin, Kenneth Franklin, David Franklin, and Bill Franklin; and sisters, Daisy Sweeza and Rosemary McBride. Survivors include her son, Ed (Cindy) Abernatha of Poplar Bluff; daughters, Mary Fran Swann of Millington, TN., Linda Lou (Denny) DeShaw, and Jo Ann (Randy) Taylor, all of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Chad (Stacy) DeShaw, Tammy (John) Karow, Jarrod Swann, Vanna (Andrew) Early and James Joseph Swann; great-grandchildren, Brianna Hassell, Sharon DeShaw, Nicholas DeShaw, Jannie DeShaw, Celyna DeShaw, Joseph DeShaw, Landon Karow, Austin Karow, Payne Swann, Taylor Early and Abby Early. Visitation was held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, June 23, 2025, at McNabb Funeral Home Chapel, with the funeral service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Don Settles. Burial followed in Chesser Cemetery. Pallbearers honored to serve were John Karow, Landon Karow, Jarrod Swann, Payne Swann, Andrew Early, and Chad DeShaw. Honorary pallbearers included Denny DeShaw, Randy Taylor, and Ed Abernatha.
