Ward sets school record in 5000 meter run

SALEM—Pocahontas senior Ali Ward set a new school record in the cross country 5000 meter run Sept. 17 at the Salem Invitational with her time of 21:13.32 to finish sixth overall.

Also participating in the 5000 meter run for Pocahontas, McKenzi Tribble placed 11th with a time of 22:47.14, Alexis Hughes placed 49th with a time of 31:47.74, and MaKaila Rice placed 56th with a time of 33:12.05. In the 2500 meter run, Pocahontas’ Lauren Berger placed ninth with a time of 11:08.66, Abby Alphin 38th at 12:39.38, Destiny Ward 47th at 13:01.14, Malora Davis 110th at 18:03.40, Heather Thiele 111th at 18:03.97, Allie Reagan 119th at 20:37.29, and Emily Ozburn 120th at 20:37.73. In boys’ action, Pocahontas’ Samuel Frazier placed 64th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 25:34.62.
