Skins lose close one to Valley View

POCAHONTASThe Redskin baseball team picked up only their second defeat of the season Thursday afternoon with their 15-14 home loss to Valley View.

The Redskins are now 5-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play as they head to Munford, Tenn. for their annual Best of the West Tournament this week. Pocahontas played both White Hall and Bolton (Arlington, Tenn.) on Tuesday and Van Buren on Wednesday. Results will follow in next week’s issue.

The Blazers would get on the board first Thursday, putting up three runs in the top of the second inning and another run in the third for the 4-0 lead. The Skins came back with a very strong bottom of the third inning, though, with a hit to right field by sophomore Carter Privett to score Matthew Waymon for their first run. Following a walk with bases loaded by Ethan Frankenberger, Jackson Nichols drove in Bradley Baltz off a Blazer era to tie the game at four before the Skins put up two more runs for a 4-6 lead heading to the fourth.
