PARAGOULD – The Redskin baseball team improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play last week with their doubleheader home wins over Highland and close road loss to Greene County Tech.

While the Arkansas Activities Association suspended play from March 15 to March 30, the Redskins are scheduled to next play at Westside March 31 unless the AAA decides to keep the suspension in effect.

On Tuesday, March 10, the `Skins defeated Highland 9-2 in the first game of the doubleheader before defeating them 11-1 in the second game. Taking on GCT Friday, March 13, Pocahontas fell 2-0.

Against GCT, Pocahontas’ Michael Martens pitched five innings, striking out five and walking five while allowing three hits and no earned runs. Hunter Singley pitched two innings, striking out one and walking none while allowing two hits and one earned run. From the plate, Singley went 1-3 with double while Martens 1-3 with a single, Dawson Chester 1-3 with a single, and C.J. Palmer 1-2 with a single.
