HIGHLAND- The Pocahontas Redskins improved to 8-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play Monday night with their 47-37 over the Highland Rebels.
Playing against a loud Highland home crowd in the always-competitive rival game, the Redskins demonstrated poise and confidence, jumping out to an 11-5 lead after one, a 19-13 lead after two and a 36-26 lead after three to go on and take the win. It was the strong Redskin senior forward, Jaden Young, in the first quarter who the `Skins looked to as he hit several key shots in the paint to give them the early lead. The `Skins continued to roll throughout the rest of the first half with 3-pointers from junior point guard Devon Adams and sophomore Derrick Kimble to stay on top heading into the half. Young kept things going inside during the third quarter as senior guard Preston Massey kept things going outside with his two threes. Winding down the third and heading into the fourth, the Redskins continuously broke the Rebel full-court press with numerous fast break lay-ins from Young, Adams and Kimble.
