Redskins stave off Westside Warriors for 28-25 win

POCAHONTAS—The Redskins took the field at Schoonover Stadium Friday night having come off a nightmarish, however humbling, 35-26 defeat to Brookland in Week 4. While Pocahontas was heavily favored to win the Brookland matchup, Friday night’s contest with Westside was anyone’s guess as the Warriors pack quite the punch this year led by senior running back Logan McPherson.

The Redskins undoubtedly had a different perspective coming into this week. They came out poised and focused in what would be an all-out battle, eventually ending with a 28-25 Pocahontas victory. The win moves the Redskins to 1-1 in conference play and 3-2 overall on the season.

“I couldn’t be more proud of a group of guys,” noted Redskin head coach Charles Baty Monday. “How they fought at the end, battled all types of adversity throughout the game, never hung their heads… They just responded every time.”
