Redskins pick up 3 more wins over the week

MELBOURNE- The Redskin baseball team continued their winning streak last week, shutting out Hoxie 15-0 at home on Tuesday, March 6, and then defeating Melbourne on the road 7-5 and 15-0 in a double header on Friday to move to 3-0 in conference play and 5-0 overall.
In the first game of Friday’s double header at Melbourne, the `Skins’ overall consistent play gave them the edge as they scored one run in the second, two runs in both the second and third and two more runs in the seventh. The Bearkatz got all five of their runs in the fifth inning. Redskin freshman Dawson Chester got the win on the mound, pitching 4.6 innings, striking out nine and walking one while giving up five earned runs. Hootie Waymon came in to close out, pitching 2.3 innings, striking out six and walking two while giving up zero earned runs. Waymon would have a single and a double in the game while Chester walked twice, scored two runs and stole two bases. Jaden Young scored twice with one stolen base and Charley White walked once with one run scored and one stolen base.
