Redskins pick up 2 shutout wins
POCAHONTAS—The Redskin baseball team improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play Monday afternoon at home with their 13-0 win over Harrisburg. The win comes off their March 5th 10-0 home win over Westside.
Hosting Harrisburg Monday, the `Skins would score in each of their four innings of play, putting up six runs in the first, three runs in both the second and third, and one run in the fourth inning while holding the Hornets scoreless through the top of the fifth for the shutout. Redskin sophomore pitcher Rob Mason got the win on the mound, pitching all five innings and striking out three while walking one and only giving up two hits. Junior Joel Marlow pitched one inning where he struck out all three batters.
From the plate, junior Jackson Nichols went 1-1 with a single, two runs scored and one stolen base.
Senior Ethan Frankenberger went 1-2 with a double, three RBI’s, one run scored and one stolen base. Standout freshman Hunter Singley went 1-2 with a single and one RBI. Sophomore Carter Privett went 1-3 with a single, two RBI’s and one run scored. Senior Jared Baltz went 1-3 with a single, two RBI’s and one run scored.
