Redskins go 1-2 at Berryville tourney

BERRYVILLE—The Pocahontas Redskins moved to 2-9 on the season last week in the annual Berryville Holiday Hoops Tournament where they picked up a 43-39 third round win over Mountain View after falling to Berryville 50-37 in the first round and 62-57 to Central Arkansas Christian in a second round overtime loss.

First up against tournament host Berryville on Thursday, the Redskins found themselves trailing 10-5 after one and 26-20 at the half. Berryville (7-9) continued to maintain a slight edge throughout the rest of the game, outscoring Pocahontas 14-10 in the third quarter and 10-7 in the fourth for the 13-point victory. Jace Wren led the Redskins with nine points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal followed by Kyle Kaczmarski with eight points at 2-for-4 shooting from long range, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Chase Orick added seven points, a gamehigh 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals while Devon Adams had five points, three rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block, Rob Mason five points and one assist, Carter Privett three points and one rebound, Dustin Rose three rebounds, Gary Jackson two rebounds and one steal, Chase McDonnough one rebound, and Michael Barnett and Drew Capps one assist apiece.
