Redskins fall to Shiloh Christian in 2nd round of state
SPRINGDALE—The Pocahontas Redskin football team ended out their 2019 season at 8-4 overall (5-2 in conference) Friday night as they would fall to the Shiloh Christian Saints 63-14 on the road in the second round of the 4A State Playoffs.
The Saints now go on to face Nashville this week in what is expected to be a very competitive game.
Coming into the game ranked 13 overall in the Arkansas 4A classification, the Redskins found themselves against the wall early on when Shiloh scored off their opening drive by largely making use of their run game in junior running back Cam Wiedemann as opposed to their lethal passing game in senior quarterback Eli Reece and senior receiver Truitt Tollett. Following their opening score, an onside kickoff recovery followed by TD catch by Tollett set the tone for the rest of the game and gave the Saints the momentum needed to go on for the big victory.
The Redskin offense finally got onto the field near the five minute mark but would go three-and-out. Shiloh scored again at the 2:33 mark of the first when after a Tollett gain to the Redskin 12-yard line, Wiedemann went in for the TD and a 21-0 lead.
