Redskins enter post-season with 4 straight wins
JONESBORO—The Redskin golf teams traveled to North Hills Country Club in Jonesboro Thur., Sept. 19, to battle Westside in their final regular-season tournament where the boys won by 20 strokes and the girls would fall by just one.
The first place finish for the boys marked their fourth win in a row as Pocahontas entered district tournament play Tue., Sept. 24, at Blytheville. Shooting a 123 to Westside’s 143, the `Skins’ Logan Dunkerson earned medalist with his 39 on the day. He would be followed by Skylar Prater, who shot a 40. Jared Erwin finished with a 44 while David Weick shot a 48. In girls’ action, Pocahontas shot a 183 to Westside’s 182. Madilyn McDowell led the Lady `Skins with a 49 followed by Gracie Miller with a 66 and Mia Presley a 68.
On Tue., Sept. 10, the `Skins played at Cherokee Village South where the boys placed first and the girls third. The Pocahontas boys shot a 121 followed by Brookland and Highland who each shot a 130. Southside would shoot a 150. The Redskins’ Prater and Dunkerson both led Pocahontas with a 38 apiece while Erwin shot a 45 and Weick shot a 47. In girls’ action, Brookland led the way with a 129 followed by Highland with a 162 and Pocahontas a 188. McDowell led the Lady Skins, shooting a 52 while both Abigail Finney and Presley shot a 68 and Miller a 70.
