Redskins end season 10-15 with 1st round loss to SS

BATESVILLE – The Pocahontas senior boys’ season came to an end Monday, Feb. 17, with a 65-51 firstround loss to tournament hosts Southside in the 4A-3 District Tournament. The Skins wrap up the year 10-15 overall and 5-9 in conference play for a sixth-place conference finish.

Leading 12-9 at the end of one, the Southerners outscored the Redskins 16-6 in the second quarter for a 28-15 halftime lead. Southside continued to have the upper hand in the second half, outscoring Pocahontas 19-15 in the third quarter to go on to a 14-point victory.

The `Skins went 17-of-49 from the field, 6-of-16 from long range, and 11-of-21 from the free throw line while grabbing 21 rebounds

Gary Jackson had two points and one rebound, Jake Brigance two points and one steal, Michael Barnett three rebounds, Ely Baltz one rebound and one assist, and Cooper Fish two assists.
