Lady ‘Skins go 0-3 over the week

HIGHLAND—The Lady Redskin softball team fell to 2-8 in conference play and 4-10 overall Monday with their 7-3 road loss to Highland. The loss comes off of their 17-0 home shutout loss to Southside last Tuesday and 18-8 road loss to Westside last Wednesday.

Monday afternoon at Highland, the Lady Rebels took the early advantage, knocking in one run in the first inning and four in the second for a quick 5-0 lead. The Lady `Skins would get on the board in the fourth inning with two runs and then add another in the sixth but Highland went on to score another run in each the fourth and sixth innings for the 7-3 victory.

Sophomore pitcher Kristi Cline pitched six innings for Pocahontas, striking out two batters and walking six while allowing nine hits and seven earned runs. From the plate, junior Taylor Donner went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI’s. Sophomore Courtney Ervin went 1-for-3 with a single, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored. Junior Alexis Hughes went 1-for-3 with a single, one stolen base and one run scored. Senior Jordan Menard went 1-for-3 with a single and one run scored.
