Great shooting, aggressive play lifts Redskins

POCAHONTAS- The Redskins came back home to Schoonover Monday night to win big over Piggott 76-35 after competing in the Lyon College Tournament in Batesville last week where they would fall in the semi-finals to Cave City 63-51.

It was all Redskins Monday night, though, as they put on a show for the home crowd controlling the contest all the way through. Redskin Head Coach Anthony Brewington would start his second team to get things going against a very athletic, howbeit unprepared, Piggott squad. Redskin junior forward Jaden Young hit the first basket of the game followed by a long three from the corner from sophomore Devon Adams to put the ‘Skins up early.

After the second team impressively set a nice tone for the contest, the Redskins’ five starters walked onto the court and took over from there. Redskin senior Clayton Hale continued his outstanding year as he hit the first of his four 3-pointers right off the bat to give them a 10-4 lead two and a half minutes in. Piggott would next get their only run of the game stealing the ball two times in a row for two quick baskets to come within two points. This was stopped, however, by Redskin junior Ryan Roberts as he retaliated with the steal and bucket himself as Piggott looked to inbound the ball.
