Ruth Ann Cox

Ruth Ann Cox, 85, of Pocahontas went to her forever home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born December 30, 1937, in Calvert, TX to the late Joseph Cloud and Irene Knapp Cloud. Ruth Ann loved everyone she met because she only saw the good in people. She always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Ruth Ann loved serving others in so many ways, whether by being a den mother for the cub scouts, volunteering countless hours as the director of the Red Cross swimming lesson program, helping with vacation bible school, or serving in various capacities at the Methodist Church. She especially loved music and singing with her Methodist choir family for over 60 years.
Ruth Ann made it a point to keep in touch with her Texas family and made trips to see them as much as possible. She was compassionate about all children, but especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the many trips to various destinations around the world with family and friends, but she also enjoyed the simple things like watching the birds and squirrels feeding outside of her living room window or listening to the wind chimes make their music.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Shirley, Lee Ann, Tammie, Judy and Mable, for their heartfelt love and devotion to her. They kept her active mentally and physically with many adventures and celebrations. They would also like to thank Lawrence Memorial Hospital for their exemplary care in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Irene Cloud; son, David Russell Cox; brothers, Jay and Gay Cloud; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Gaby Cox.
