Pauline Caffery

Pauline Virginia Hager Caffrey, age 98, of Pocahontas departed this life on Saturday, April 2, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She was born Saturday, May 5, 1923, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to the late Theodore and Ivy May Hager. Pauline had three brothers and four sisters.
Pauline married the late Jesse Jerald Caffrey on January 12, 1947, in Pocahontas. They were married for sixty-six years before his passing in 2013. Pauline is survived by two sons, Larry Caffrey and Jeff Caffrey, both of Pocahontas. She was the grandmother of Martha (David) Evans of Mammoth Springs, Gina (Mike) Higginbotham of Pocahontas, Sherry (Charley) Crumb of Michie, TN, Kara (Jamey) Sullinger of Pocahontas, Melissa (Rayland) Williams of Michie, TN, Stephanie (Ben) Robinett of Pocahontas, Brad (Andrea) Caffrey of Pocahontas, and Leah (Philip) Olson of Ravenden Springs.
She also had seventeen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and special friends, Judy Belles and Teresa Soap. She was a member of Pyburn Street Church of Christ for approximately 60 years. Pauline was a devoted wife who loved her family dearly.
She, alongside her husband, Jerald ¨Pappy¨, ran a farm for many years without all the luxuries of today. They also owned multiple businesses, through the years including a beauty shop and a rental company, which she supervised. Pauline was a worker of the world and a worker for the Lord.
She worked alongside many men of her day proving a woman could be as successful at running businesses as a man. She could fix a roof, pluck a chicken, do construction, and mow a yard, better than most. Those that knew her loved her, and she never turned away anyone in need.
As the years went by and her grandchildren arrived, Pauline loved to tell them stories of her youth, take them fishing, teach them how to care for the farm animals, do repairs to homes, sing songs with them, and teach them about Jesus.
There were always great adventures to be had when spending the day with Granny/Giggy. She taught her family determination and how to work hard for what you want in life.
Pauline loved to talk about Jesus to anyone who would listen and even to some that didn’t. Single handedly, she led many to Christ with those talks. Her homecoming was surely met with many loved ones that have gone before her at the gates of Heaven, especially her love, Pappy. Pauline’s family rejoices at her finally being reunited with Pappy and knows they are strolling hand in hand down the dirt farm roads alongside the streets of gold in Heaven.
Services will be held at Pyburn Street Church of Christ under the direction of Hope Gardens Funeral Home, on Thursday April 7, 2022, with visitation from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, and Pauline’s funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Garden in Pocahontas.
