Parks - Aren’t you glad we have them?....

Pocahontas is blessed to have three parks that offer walking areas, playground equipment, picnic areas and even a dog walk - plus a water park that offers citizens year-round swimming, and seasonal outdoor recreation.

Additionally, there is fishing at Baltz Lake and just a few miles away Davidsonville Historic State Park offers camping, walking trails, picnic areas and fishing.

When my two young grandkids visit, we go to the parks since we don’t have playground equipment in our back yard. During their visit last week we took them to the Black River Overlook Park and they enjoyed the playground with their papa while their mother and I walked on the trail. On another day we again took the kids and our little dog. They all had a great outing. The city provides plastic bags in two locations to pick up after your pet.

We were very happy with the new parking area there. It is a great addition to the park.
