In the news ...

Randolph County is experiencing a heat wave with temperatures in the 90s with heat indexes ranging from 105 to 110 degrees. It’s actually the first time this summer that the heat is almost unbearable in the direct sunlight.

Hot weather increases the risk of heat related illness including heat exhaustion and heat stroke especially in the very young, the elderly and those without access to air conditioning.

We were concerned for some young men across the street who were working on a roof during the hot part of the day on Monday. Thankfully no one got too hot as far as we know. They were maybe more used to the heat than are most of us.

Anyway, stay cool if you can.
