After he signed legislation to keep the government open last Friday, Donald Trump called a national emergency to get funding for his border wall that Congress had refused to appropriate.

Saying the crisis at the border constitutes such an emergency, the order would provide an additional $8 million to build the wall. Congress approved $1.4 million in the funding bill Trump signed. The other $8 million would come from money already appropriated for other purposes.
