The Arkansas Press Association monitors legislation that would erode the Freedom of Information Act and alerts newspapers of any bills that come up. Each legislative session there are legislators who introduce bills that would weaken the FOI whether the sponsors realize it or not.

HB 1041 meets that criteria.

The Arkansas House Committee on City, County and Local Affairs has advanced legislation sponsored by Rep. Jack Ladyman that raises the threshold at which cities must seek bids before they make a purchase, from $20,000 to $50,000.
