The Maynard Gang
The art of the amiable insult is practiced so frequently in the Maynard Café, that an especially pungent example is worthy of commentary. Those of us with many years standing in the Institute are all skilled at the daily verbal jousting.
Spillover from Hart – Hagood – Edington - Fowler pitch games offers much fodder for the insult mill. When Norman Meridith was able to meet with us regularly he performed an admirable service. He needled us all on a non-discriminatory, even-handed basis. Having opted to breakfast with the flatlanders across Current River, Raymond Groning is honing his considerable insult skills in a new setting. There are mornings that we badly need him.
