The Maynard Gang

Though it is difficult to get most of them to actually go fishing, most of the boys at the Maynard Café like to talk about fishing. For reasons that are somewhat obscure, I am considered a primary resource on the subject. I have told the morning table regulars many times that a basic key to fishing success is the color of the water. When the water in the deep holes of Fourche River reach a certain blue – green hue in the late fall and early winter, bass and other game fish will turn on. It is my habit to go at least once every year in the hole traversed by the Highway 328 bridge at Jarrett.
