About the flood study...

The City and County are terminating a flood study partnership with the Corps of Engineers and will attempt to deal with the Black River flooding issues by establishing development districts. They really didn’t have much choice as continuing the partnership with the Corps meant coming up with another $400,000. The study, by the way, was initiated by the sponsors, the city and county.

Randolph County Judge David Jansen said the money the county and city has already appropriated for the study could be used as seed money to build additional levees, for instance, to help control the waters around the city during a flood.
