Herman G. King

Herman G. King, 78, of Pocahontas, Ark., passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas. Herman was born on Saturday, August 9, 1939, in Ravenden Springs, Ark., to Mose and Mae Rice King. On April 16, 1966, Herman married the love of his life, Freda Gordon. They were married for 52 years. Herman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Herman was a long-time employee of the Brown Shoe Company in Pocahontas. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Herman is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hurley King and Melvin King; sisters, Vena Stacy, Lavonda Hurt, Nadine Dunning, and Dorothy Harper. Survivors include, wife, Freda Gordon King of the home; daughter, Gayla (Bryan Cates) King of Jonesboro; brother, Doyle (Laverne) King of Hematite, Mo.; sister, Juanita Phelps of California; granddaughter, Jessi Champion of Jonesboro; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Per Herman’s wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition.
