Carolyn Sue Starling December 28, 1944 - July 11, 2018

Carolyn Sue Ray Starling, 73, of Pocahontas, Ark., entered into eternal rest, on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Carolyn was born on Thursday, December 28, 1944, in Pitman, Ark., to Elbert and Geraldine Carter Ray. Carolyn was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved embroidering and making quilts. Carolyn’s deepest passion, however, was helping many close friends as they struggled with cancer. She firmly believed death was not a good-bye, but rather, a time to say, “until we meet again.” Carolyn was a member of the Master Gardener’s Club of Pocahontas, the Extension Homemaker’s Club, and the Church of Christ. On October 23, 1981, Carolyn married the love of her life, William “Bill” Starling. They were married for 36 years. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Geraldine Carter Ray; brother, Walter Ewing Ray; nephew, Joseph Hausman; sister-inlaw, Angie Ray; brother-inlaw, Louis Hausman. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 36 years, William “Bill” Starling of the home; brothers, Albert (Elaine) Ray of Pocahontas, Ricky (June) Ray of Pocahontas, Ronnie (Gale) Ray of Jonesboro, and Michael (Dean) Ray of Pocahontas; sisters, Marilyn (Rudy) Hausman of Pocahontas, Patricia Hausman of Bono, and Pamela Phillips of Pocahontas; sister-in-law, Ella Higginbottom; many nieces and nephews, all of whom were like children to Carolyn. All services were conducted in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Carolyn’s funeral service immediately followed, beginning at 3:00 p.m., with Jon Fears officiating. Burial followed in the Pitman Cemetery. Family and friends were honored to serve as pallbearers. An online guestbook may be signed by visiting www.fearsfamilyfuneralhome. com
