Redskins down Valley View 28-14 in pre-season match

JONESBORO—After an early slow start, the Redskin football team turned it on Friday night at Valley View to defeat the 5A Blazers 28-14 in a pre-season scrimmage matchup.

The Redskins would give fans a glimpse of just how well-rounded they are this season with a steady mix of solid passing, running and tackling to quickly put a damper on an early Blazer run. Valley View got on the board first at the 7:10 mark of the first quarter and would hold the `Skins into the second quarter. Although Redskin senior Devon Adams picked off a huge interception early into the second to give Pocahontas the ball back, Valley View’s big defense continued to hold the Redskins, forcing them to punt. After making their way downfield to the Redskin 5-yard line, the Blazers rushed in for another score to make it 14-0 Valley View at 6:29 remaining in the half.
