County Chamber eyes reviving “Stroll the Square

POCAHONTAS – Although there wasn’t a quorum for a vote at Thursday’s Randolph County Chamber of Commerce meeting, board members discussed the possibility of bringing back the monthly “Stroll the Square” event downtown.

Stroll the Square, which was started in 2012 by James Tinker and Jean Pearcy, was a community-wide event held one Thursday a month where, in addition to food, entertainment and other activities, it gave downtown merchants a chance to showcase their goods and services to the community. Chamber Board Member Jennifer Clay brought the proposal to the Board after receiving much feedback from people asking about Stroll the Square, which saw its last event occur in 2016. Clay is the owner of Spring Designs in Pocahontas and managed the website and Facebook page for the event.
