The natural follow-up to Long stories in the Palestine community is to chronicle the sayings and adventures of their kinsmen, the Ramseys. Their exploits were legendary.

Uncle Theo, the clan patriarch, in his earlier years cut timber for a living. I remember that he and Aunt Maud lived for a while in the lower Black River bottoms near Swifton. One may rest assured that he appropriated game and fish for their sustenance from both the Black and Strawberry River “bottoms.”
