Perspective ...Ballot Issues 6-7

Two issues on the Nov. 8 general election ballot have been ruled ineligible by the Arkansas Supreme Court. The casino issue and tort reform. In the case of Issue 5 – to allow three casinos in Arkansas – the court ruled that the ballot title wasn’t sufficient and didn’t inform voters that the amendment allowed sports bookmaking contrary to federal law. Issue 4 – regarding the medica-linjury lawsuit laws that would limit attorney contingency fees, the court ruled the ballot title left off critical information undefined.
