Second round of blasts occur to old Black River Bridge

POCAHONTAS- Last Friday morning at 9 a.m. traffic was stopped briefly on U.S. Hwy. 67 as a precautionary measure as AHTD engineers charged the eastern most pier located on the river in their continued effort of the demolition of the old Black River Bridge. “It was broken down mechanically to a point 4’ above the water level then drilled approximately 10’ below that elevation,” stated AHTD District Construction Engineer Brad Smithee.
