School Board hosts community meeting to discuss millage election
POCAHONTAS — The Pocahontas School Board of Directors hosted a dropin style town hall meeting Monday night at the Pocahontas Community Center to talk with voters regarding the special millage election and to answer questions the public had about the specifics of the millage request and the new high school project.
Along with school board members, architect for the new high school, Todd Welch, of Brackett-Krennerich in Jonesboro, was also at the meeting. Welch had several renderings of the prospective high school on display for voters to look at.
Early voting continues this week through Friday at First Baptist Church, as the special election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8. Voting on Tuesday will be held at Black River Technical College and at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
School Board President Mike Davis said he feels like this type of opportunity for the district will not come again.
