Pocahontas Board approves upgrades to athletic facilities

POCAHONTAS- The Pocahontas School Board approved a proposal Monday night to install new LED lighting in the high school gymnasium and also accepted a proposed bid for the installation of new turf in the athletic field house.
District Superintendent Daryl Blaxton stated that earlier in the year they had two companies come in and provide proposals for LED lighting in the high school gym. They stated that the gym is an area where they could see the largest costs-savings and it would pay for itself in 22.3 months according to the calculations. The Board approved a proposal in the amount of $10,630 and noted that it would provide enhanced lighting to the gym and give them the opportunity to see if it is something they would want to consider in other areas.
