Pocahontas Airport sees multiple improvements during past year

POCAHONTASChairman of the Pocahontas Municipal Airport Commission Danny Ellis presented his annual State of the Airport address Tuesday afternoon at the commission’s monthly meeting where he said the airport has experienced record financial growth over the past year.

“The current state of the airport is very strong,” said Ellis. “The year of 2018 was filled with multiple improvements... The traffic counts have noticeably increased this past year and the fuel sales reflected this. Avgas (aviation gasoline) sales have remained steady over the past couple of years while Jet fuel sales have been the highest ever seen at this airport in recorded history. Financially, the airport is in the best condition our city clerk has ever seen. Also, review of historical records that go back decades confirm the same point that the airport is experiencing record financial results.”
