Local man faces several child pornography charges
POCAHONTAS – A local man is being held in Randolph County Jail while facing several charges of child pornography after officers with the Pocahontas Police Department and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office located a missing Ohio teen at his residence.
Brian Miguel Ortiz-Velez, 27, of Pocahontas, has been charged with five felony counts, which include: interference with custody; promoting a sexual performance by a child; computer child pornography; possessing and viewing of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child; and computer exploitation of a child.
According to the arrest affidavit released by Pocahontas Detective R o c k y Jones, on May 19, the Pocahontas Police was contacted by the Delaware P o l i c e Department in Ohio in reference to a missing 16-year-old female juvenile. It was determined that Velez-Ortiz was suspected of traveling to Delaware, Ohio and bringing the juvenile back to Pocahontas without her guardian’s permission.
