Local Chamber considers canceling remaining events

POCAHONTAS — The Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met last Thursday, June 18, and discussed the possibility of cancelling all remaining Chamber events through the end of the year due to COVID-19 concerns.

The Board approved a motion at last month’s meeting to cancel the regularly-scheduled events through July and see what the status of the pandemic was then. This included the cancellation of the annual membership appreciation day golf tournament as well as business after hours events. The Board decided to cancel the remaining business after hours through the end of the year.

Regarding membership appreciation day, Chamber Executive Director Tim Scott stressed the importance of making sure no one in the community contracted COVID-19 due to an event the Chamber sponsored.
