"I matter" program benefits foster kids

POCAHONTAS - A program started by the First United Methodist Church in Pocahontas is helping make a difference in the lives of area foster kids by showing them a little love and respect.

The program, known as "I Matter," is a foster care outreach program that provides local foster kids with duffel bags and pajamas.

Pat Bodenhamer, pastor of First United Methodist Church, said the church adopted the program several months back through their Super Bowl Throwdown fundraiser in February. The fundraiser project raised over $2,000 to provide foster kids with duffel bags imprinted with "I Matter," along with pajama sets and children's books.
