Founder’s Day 2019 weekend taking shape

Expected to be one of the best in years

POCAHONTAS—The 2019 Founder’s Day committee has been busy putting together, what many believe to be, one of the greatest Founder’s Day celebrations ever to be held in Randolph County.

Event volunteer, Linda Bowlin, and committee member, Allison Schaechtel, were special guests at the April 3 Pocahontas Rotary meeting where they presented an in-depth overview of the activities and events scheduled for this year’s celebration, which will be held Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4, on the historic downtown square.

“I don’t know if many of you have seen what the agenda is so far for Founder’s Day, but I honestly and truthfully think that this year’s Founder’s Day is going to be the best that we have ever had,” said Rotary President Erin Mathews upon introducing Bowlin and Schaechtel.

Bowlin said there has been much enthusiasm for this year’s celebration and she believes the committee’s lined up a really interesting agenda for both days.

“The schedule’s a lot different this year from what it’s been in the past,” noted Bowlin. “So I think there’s going to be a lot of interesting stuff… for all ages.”
