FAA official talks transportation, economy
POCAHONTAS – FAA Associate Administrator for Airports Kirk Shaffer was guest speaker at the July 15 Pocahontas Rotary meeting where he spoke about transportation and its role in driving the U.S. economy as well as the impact of COVID-19.
Shaffer discussed the department’s planning and programming directorate and its significance to a healthy economy.
“We live in an internet economy. You can get on your laptop or your smartphone and you can buy just about anything that you want to. But it’s not the internet that gets it to your front door. Somewhere in that process a boat, or a train, or a tractor trailer rig, or an airplane, and pretty soon a drone, actually brings that package to your front door,” explained Shaffer.
