Crop yields coming out at about 50 percent of normal

POCAHONTAS- With heavy late-summer rainfall and flooding, crop yields in the county are ending up at about half of what they normally would, stated Staff Chair of the County Extension Service Mike Andrews.
“First I will say that yields for our crops were pretty much down across the board for the county,” explained Andrews. “There were a few fields that yielded fairly well… maybe average for the county. But then as I mentioned earlier in the year, we totally lost thousands of acres that were under water for an extended period of time.”
