POCAHONTAS- During Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, aldermen approved the authorization to allow Pocahontas Mayor Kary Story to send a letter of commitment to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to enter into the 205 Continuing Authority Program for the study of the Black River/Current River basins.
A special-called meeting was held on July 27 in which representatives from the Corps went over the studies and programs available to address the flooding issues within the area. Story said that he has spoken with the County and that County Judge David Jansen felt confident that they would be interested in cost-sharing with the City on the 205 Program.
