City aldermen approve alcohol ordinance to include festival permits
POCAHONTASDuring the regular monthly Pocahontas City Council meeting Tuesday afternoon at City Hall, aldermen approved a proposed ordinance for alcohol sales taxation and permits with the addition of a section governing festival permits.
The ordinance governs the sale of alcohol for on-premises consumption for hotels, motels, restaurants, private clubs, and off-premises caterers. Pocahontas City Attorney Alex Bigger said the ordinance is relatively unchanged from last month but he feels at this point, it’s in a good position to pass if the Council so chooses. One addition Bigger included was a proposed section governing festival permits, which was brought up after the recent Founder’s Day festival and tavern set up downtown. The festival permit would allow the City to regulate what happens at the festival.
