Chamber prepares for business expo and job fair
POCAHONTAS—The Randolph County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for their annual business expo and job fair, which will be held Thursday, April 11, at Black River Technical College.
Chamber Executive Assistant Wendy French said at last Thursday’s regular monthly chamber meeting that the Chamber business networking committee decided to change the day of the event from Friday, as it has been held in the past, to Thursday this year so that more college students will be on the BRTC campus. French said they are excited about this year’s event and expect a great attendance as the Chamber is celebrating its 100-year anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, the theme for the job fair and expo is “100 Years, Decade by Decade.” French noted this will give participants options regarding how they decorate their booths as well as the attire they wear.
The business expo and job fair will begin Thursday morning at 8:00 with booth setup followed by business networking from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The job fair along with public health screenings will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Among the screenings to be offered, French said First Choice Healthcare will be giving cholesterol screenings, BRTC nursing students will be giving glucose screenings, and St. Bernards Five Rivers will be offering diabetic foot screenings. She noted they’re hoping to increase public attendance this year by adding the health screenings. The cost for a Randolph County Chamber of Commerce member booth is $75 and $100 for a non-chamber member booth. The booth rentals include one rectangular table and two chairs. A box lunch will be served between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
