Carlton “Carl” Duane Cates
Carlton “Carl” Duane Cates, 76, of Maynard, Ark., passed away at the Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, on Saturday, September 5, 2020.
Carl was born on Wednesday, May 31, 1944, in Maynard, to Tommy and Irene Buckley Cates.
Carl was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend. He was also a member of the Skaggs Church of Christ, in Pocahontas.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Irene Buckley Cates; and one brother, Henry Cates.
Carl leaves behind his wife, Nellie Rowland Cates of the home; one daughter, Carla (Michael) Adams of Pensacola, Fla.; two stepsons, Ron (Ester) Williams of Navarre, Fla., and Don Williams of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Vernon (Laura) Cates of Pocahontas, Ark.; five grandchildren, David (Sneh) Wood of London, England, Lenay (Andrew) Bibona of Milton, Fla., Amanda (Michael) Marinko of Crestview, Fla., Carlton Manning, and Brooke Manning, both of Pensacola, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Tyla, Lily, Ava, Cayden, Jacob, Skyla, Layla, and Clark; and many other loved ones and friends.
All services for Carl will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Ark., on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Carl’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition and the cremation process will be initiated at the conclusion of all services.
The family wishes to respectfully designate the following individuals as honorary pallbearers, Bill Polson, David Pierce, James Anderson, Ron Williams, Don Williams, and Carlton Cates.
