BRTC to offer new Associate of General Studies degree

College may offer 4-year degrees in the future

PARAGOULD—Black River Technical College unanimously approved a motion to offer a new Associate of General Studies degree during their quarterly board meeting Aug. 1. It was also announced they may work with various universities in the state in the future to offer 4-year degrees locally.

BRTC President Dr. Martin Eggensperger said he’s recently had quite a few schools come visit with him about the possibility of partnering together to offer four-year degrees at BRTC. He said they’re in discussions with such universities as Arkansas State University, University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas Tech University, and Southern Arkansas University.

“We’re really excited,” said Eggensperger. “And a couple of other people have expressed interest and would like to set up some times to come in and visit as well. It would make us a place where students can go without having to leave Paragould or Pocahontas and get a 4-year degree. So we’re looking to that and we’re really excited about that.”
