BRTC establishes secondary area technical center

Also, AMMC in Paragould to serve as nursing instructional site

POCAHONTAS—The Black River Technical College Board of Trustees held a special-called meeting Thursday, Aug. 29, in the president’s boardroom in which they approved the establishment of a secondary area technical center as well as the development of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould as a nursing instructional site.

BRTC has participated in a pilot program with the Department of Arkansas Career Education over the past three years in which they received grant funding for the Technical Opportunities and Pathways for Secondary Students (TOPSS) program. As the college continues to participate in the program with funding based on a new model for secondary area technical center programs, BRTC sought to establish an official secondary area technical center on the Pocahontas campus with a satellite center at the Paragould location.
