Board releases figures on millage increase to fund new high school
POCAHONTAS – With the upcoming Sept. 8 special election to determine whether patrons approve a 3.44 millage request for the construction of a new high school, the Pocahontas School District released additional information about what it means for voters.
Voting will be held on Tuesday, Sept, 8, at Black River Technical College and Sutton Freewill Baptist Church. Early voting will be held from Sept. 1 to Sept. 4 at First Baptist Church.
For real estate appraised at $75,000, for example, the approximate monthly increase to the owner, with a 3.44 mill increase, would be $4.30. For real estate valued at $150,000, the monthly increase would be $8.60.
