Beautification project set for historic courthouse

POCAHONTAS—It has been said “A first impression is a lasting impression.” With that in mind, a group of local citizens have created a project called “Courthouse Beautification”—a project that seeks to revitalize the historic Randolph County Courthouse on the square in downtown Pocahontas.

The beautiful historic courthouse has longed served as the focal point of the county and hosts local and out of town visitors on a regular basis. Given that fact, it is important that the area surrounding the courthouse be equally as beautiful. Unfortunately, the years have taken a toll on the courthouse lawn. Realizing the need for an overhaul, local citizens began work on the project to help bring the lawn back to life.

The areas that will be addressed include the repair and painting of the wrought iron fence surrounding the property, fresh landscaping with year-round color, restoration of the outdoor furniture and monuments, and installation of professional landscape lighting along with sidewalk repair, outdoor planters and lighting of the dome.
