ISAAC MORDECAI BOUNDS

Isaac Mordecai Bounds, primarily known as I. M. or Slim, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 3, 1927, to Perlie Murphy Bounds and Modena Bellah Bounds at Elm Store in northern Randolph County,Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: brothers Clifton and Orville, sisters Essie Bounds, Leta Lane, Pauline Green, and Perline Helms. His sons-in-law, Philip Buddy Rawlings and Larry Spencer, grandson, Michael Wayne Segraves, and great-granddaughter, Emma Steele, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 76 years, Betty Louvetta Vermilye Bounds; his son Steve (Charlotte) Bounds of Warm Springs, Arkansas; his daughters Regina (Doug) Steele, Pat Rawlings, and Barbara (Ric) Dowler, all of Poynor, Missouri; Janet Jones of Maynard, Arkansas; and Shelly (Johnny) Segraves of Pocahontas, Arkansas. He is also survived by his sisters Vida Doran and Willadean Shaver of Pocahontas, and by 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Slim and Betty lived in Warm Springs most of their lives where they had a hill farm. There they raised a few cows and worked at operating a sawmill. Slim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing dominoes. He was a member of the Brakebill Church of Christ.

Services were held on July 23, 2024, at Hope Gardens Funeral Home. Isaac was laid to rest at Brakebill Cemetery.
